Don’t patronize the depressed

Do not treat the depressed person like a child, and do not assume that you know what is best for her. If the depressed person you are talking to is a child, continue to talk to her in the same manner as you would to a nondepressed child of the same age. Remember to speak to the depressed person with the same respect that you would with anyone else close to you.
