Hiding negative feelings from the depressed

People are generally not as good at hiding their negative feelings as they might think. The belief that you can hide such feelings will prevent you from satisfying your needs in the relationship [as the nondepressed person], thereby worsening the negative feelings. The more intense they get, the harder they are to hide.
