Quick Thoughts On Self-Worth

While I may differ with the meaning of this picture I believe for the most part it speaks of a truth that we often don’t acknowledge. In this day and age it’s all too common for people to sell themselves for meaningless things. Some are quick to say “well, Kanye West sold his soul to the devil”, or “DMX sold his soul to the devil.” No…. that’s symbolism. Let’s try to get it right.

People sell themselves to their jobs, for instance. Especially higher paid executives and the like. A person works for a company and the executives says their job is in Cincinnati, they pack up, leave Chicago, and transplant to a new community. The job two years later says, “we need you in Wisconsin”, again the person packs up and moves. This Joe Schmoe has sold himself for those figures in his paycheck.

Now lets look at your Lady Gaga type of people… what? she sold herself to be a celebrity supposedly? To push the envelope of acceptability and break established norm’s in the public arena? Especially if it’s true, that her music label paid for all the “body modification” she underwent.

What about your Kardishian type of people, I guess I would say these are the ones who want fame and to be trendsetters at any cost… What? They sell you a few years of their life in “reality tv”? and it’s not hard to imagine what parts of them they shelled out for that opportunity.

“When a reality show about the Kardashian sisters of Southern California debuted in the fall of 2007, most people had never heard of the family, and what was known could scarcely be considered positive.”

Those I think are examples of peoples self-worth being lower than what a life is supposed to be worth. But hey, like always that is just my two cents.
